Product Information

Shortly after Deutsche Grammophon announced that it had signed Franco Fagioli as the first countertenor in its history to an exclusive contract, he can be heard in a new recording of Gluck’s opera “Orfeo ed Euridice” in the title role.

This recording offers several novelties. Not only has Fagioli here recorded a complete opera in the title role for the first time, but “Orfeo ed Euridice” is also being released for the first time in its original Italian version and on period instruments.

Franco Fagioli is one of the most virtuosic countertenors in the world today. His subtle, sensitive timbre and the perfect technique with which he achieves a range of three octaves astonish every listener. His interpretation of the popular aria “Che farò senza Euridice,” which he sings with absolute clarity even in the highest register and embellishes with his smooth vibrato, is definitely the highlight of this recording.

Further collaborators on the recording include sopranos Malin Hartelius and Emmanuelle de Negri, together with the Insula Orchestra conducted by Laurence Equilbey. A separate album containing all the highlights is also available.
